For cars the minimum tyre tread depth must be AT LEAST 1.6mm from the base of the tread in the central 3/4 of the tread throughout a continuous band and around the entire circumference of the tyre.

Tyre Wear Indicators (TWIs) are located on many tyres in between the main tread so when the main tread wears down and becomes level with the TWI then the tyre may be close to the legal limit. You can also purchase a tyre gauge and measure the tread. If you are not sure, call or pop in and we can check your tyres.

We will identify the fault and solution and liaise with their technical teams to get the work authorised.

Sometimes the full repair cost is covered by the warranty provider so you can claim back the full amount or just pay a small policy excess.
