Powder coating wheels resolves many issues such as kerb damage, scrapes, flaking paint as well tyres losing air pressure due to wheel corrosion between where the tyre and wheel meet. Usually all 4 wheels (or 5 including the spare wheel) are treated at the same time.
The process is a long lasting resilient solution and is as close to how the wheels would have been prepared ‘from new’ from original factory production within acceptable margins of tolerance.
The whole wheel is treated inside and outside as well as where the tyre fits, as shown in the images. This is not just wet painting by spraying the face with a can of spray paint. This in itself, for example, would not resolve air pressure loss issues between the alloy wheel and tyre and is not a long-term solution compared to powder coating the wheel.
The powder coating process involves removing attached objects such as the tyre, centre cap, wheel balancing weights, valve, etc and then acid stripping and shot blasting the wheel to the ‘bare bones’. The wheels are then prepped and any imperfections such as kerb damage, scrapes and dents are dealt with, such as by grinding, reshaping and polishing the affected areas. The wheels are then powder coated and lacquered. During the process the wheels are placed in OVENS as many times as needed to extract trapped air that may surface afterwards and blemish the finish.
To achieve this level of finish, we DO NOT RUSH the process and try to do everything the same day! We take our time giving due accord to each stage needed and that can only be a good thing for our customers. Depending on work volumes, our powder coating solutions can take from 3 working days to 10 working days so please liaise with us about your requirements and what may be possible from us.

This project for a Chrysler Crossfire involved refurbishing the 19″ original wheels.
