Our MOT tests are impartial and fair. We have experienced MOT testers to ensure your car meets the required standards of the MOT test.

MOT Test - Good to know...
You are required by law to keep your car in a roadworthy condition if you use the car on the road. An MOT test checks that the vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. If your car is more than 3 years old, you are required to do an MOT test each year. Without a valid MOT, your car insurance and road tax get invalidated.
Important to note: Although the MOT test contains many checks, it is still non-intrusive, hence MOT testers are not permitted to adjust, clean, remove and strip items such as wheels to check brakes or components hidden by engine covers, etc.
WE TEST VEHICLES AS THEY ARE PRESENTED AND THE TEST IS ONLY A SNAPSHOT OF THE VEHICLE AT THAT POINT IN TIME. AFTER THE TEST YOU MUST STILL ENSURE THE CAR REMAINS LEGAL AND ROADWORTHY!
The test is not a replacement for the maintenance of other important items such as servicing, brake fluid checks, etc. Further, even though your car may pass its MOT for certain criteria, you still have to ensure it is road legal in other respects such as window tints, etc
Our MOT checklist includes the following areas
- Lights are in good working order
- Tyres and wheels are in good condition and tyres have good tread depth
- Body, vehicle structure and general items
- Steering and suspension
- Fuel system leaks
- Exhaust system & emissions
- Seats & Seatbelts
- Bonnet, doors, boot & mirrors
- Make sure your braking system is in good working condition with a brake efficiency test
- Registration plates
- We check warning lights on your dashboard
- Windscreen, wipers & washers
- Check that the horn works
- Vehicle identification number (VIN) is displayed
- Electrical - visible wiring & battery
Pre-MOT Inspection
If you prefer, to help you to plan and budget for potential repairs, TyreCom Autos offer a Pre-MOT inspection of your vehicle thereby increasing the chance of passing your actual MOT test.
Our Fair MOT Philosophy
Fortunately at TyreCom Autos our philosophy is different and straightforward. We feel it is better to be more transparent with customers and not have a vested interest to fail your car without good reason as you are paying us a fair amount for the MOT test, and your fee actually goes towards covering our expenses, etc. We do not need to unfairly generate extra work from you and your car.
Thus we have no option but to happily be FAIR and REASONABLE and can offer you invaluable IMPARTIAL cost-saving advice regarding the MOT test, advisory items and repairs!

Our MOT tests start from £45.00 which is much less than the official standard MOT price of £54.85. Further, MOTs can be even CHEAPER when you decide to have a service or tyres or if you choose from many other combined offers.

Unlike other companies we do NOT try to grab your business by charging you extremely low prices for the MOT, such as £15 or even by offering FREE MOTs! The question must be raised – how can such companies survive if ultimately cars pass the MOT test. With cheap or free MOTs and very little income from the test itself, they still have to pay for the test fee, wages, heating, lighting, rent, rates, etc.
To make up for the ‘loss’ of the cheap / free MOT it is in their interest to be unreasonable with you and your car and often sadly try to create chargeable work that does not need to be performed and also sting you with stealthy charges for small items and repairs and ontop of that even charge you the MOT re-test fee.
Any initial savings with the cheap / free MOT are eroded and the overall cost can soar very quickly.
